Standards Training Plan for Members - 2024/2025

 

 

 

1.0          PURPOSE OF REPORT

 

1.1       To present to Members, for review, the Standards Training Plan for Members for 2024/2025. 

 

 

2.0          BACKGROUND

 

2.1          At its meeting on 26 June 2024, the Standards and Governance Committee agreed its Standards Training Plan for Members for 2024/2025.

 

2.2          A report will be brought to each ordinary meeting of the Committee for it to consider the standards training needs of Members of the Council and how best to meet them through the Standards Training Plan.

 

3.0          STANDARDS TRAINING PLAN

 

3.1          An updated Standards Training Plan is attached at Appendix 1 for Members’ consideration and discussion. 

 

3.2          The Training Plan is split into separate sections for:

 

·         The Standards and Governance Committee and Independent Persons for Standards;

·         The Standards and Governance Committee Hearings Panel;

·         Specific training for the Independent Persons for Standards;

·         Members of North Yorkshire Council; and

·         Parish and Town Councils.

 

and further split, for each section, into ‘Training received’ and ‘Future training’, to record training undertaken and to assess future training needs.

 

4.0          FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

 

4.1          There are no significant financial implications arising from this report.

 

5.0       LEGAL IMPLICATIONS

 

5.1         There are no significant legal implications arising from this report.

 

6.0       ENVIRONMENTAL/CLIMATE CHANGE IMPLICATIONS

 

6.1         There are no significant environmental implications arising from this report.

 

 

 

 

7.0       EQUALITIES IMPLICATIONS

 

7.1          There are no significant equalities implications arising from this report.

 

8.0         CONCLUSION

 

8.1         Members are requested to consider the standards training needs across the authority and review the Standards Training Plan in terms of those needs being met.

 

8.2         Members will be kept informed of progress in relation to standards training.

 

 

9.0       RECOMMENDATIONS

 

9.1      That Members consider the Standards Training Plan for Members for 2024/2025 and determine whether any amendments are required.
